COMPACT is an agreement that aims to provide a framework for enhancing and developing relationships between the public and voluntary and community sectors across the City. Its objective is to create a level playing field and ensure effective services meet the needs of local people.
The ONE HULL COMPACT developed five codes of good practice
The Codes are:
In 2009 The ONE HULL COMPACT received the national Compact Commissioners Award for Outstanding Achievement as well as an Innovation Award for its dispute resolution process.
Without question, voluntary and community groups across Hull are a valuable asset, which bring distinctive value to the City by enabling individuals to contribute to public life. Indeed, this partnership can utilise the fantastic life skills, interests, beliefs and values of individuals and groups – while at the same time take an active role in promoting citizenship.
At the end of 2009 the Compact Commission launched the revised COMPACT. The new Compact has meant that there are some changes to the Compact agreement between the Public Sector and the voluntary and community sector. Most notably the Compact is now a single, short, more accessible document, which broadens its approach to equalities and introduces a three month notice period for the end of contracts and other funding.
The Partnership recognises the potential COMPACT has in providing a strong link across all partnerships. Such a partnership will help improve local services, as well as opportunities for employment and growth in the local economy.
