9 <![CDATA[Annual Conference 2007]]> http://onehull.co.uk/eventDetails.asp?intEventID=9 At the Conference, Hull & Humber Skipper Danny Watson also announced the names of the ten youngsters from the City that would proudly carry a special ONE HULL Wilberforce Petition across the globe as part of an employment and skills project. They will now help spread the message to the world that modern day slavery still exists today 200 years after the abolition of slavery.

A special cheque presentation by P&O Ferries was also held; the company had donated £10,000 to help raise money for the Hull Flood Fund following the unprecedented weather conditions that hit the City earlier in the year.

5 <![CDATA[Capture the Heart of Hull 2006]]> http://onehull.co.uk/eventDetails.asp?intEventID=5 ONE HULL, the City's Local Strategic Partnership, teamed up with'Mail Publications in 2006 to launch a fantastic competition, asking people to capture the “Heart of Hull' in a photograph.

The competition was split into three categories: Open age; Primary school children; and Secondary school pupils.

The winners of each category won a digital camera generously donated by Jacobs, while the runners up – and lucky competition voters – won a P&O Ferries mini-cruise to Amsterdam or Bruges.

These pictures are now being used to help publicise Hull's fantastic qualities around the world. The images were also buried in a special ONE HULL time capsule at Paisley Primary School, in Hull, to be reopened in 2020 - when Hull realises its Vision.

8 <![CDATA[Community Strategy Launch]]> http://onehull.co.uk/eventDetails.asp?intEventID=8 Hull's Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) ONE HULL launched its ambitious Community Strategy – an exciting forward-thinking blueprint for the City's development over the next five years - in July 2006.

The launch for the document, mapping out residents' priorities for their City, took place at the KC Stadium, in Hull. The Strategy focused on key audience groups, as well as aiming to create better jobs and prosperity, education and skills and safer, stronger communities.

The launch also featured an exciting Community Strategy DVD, made by the young people of Hull, which was shown on the City's Big Screen, in Queen Victoria Square, along with as an exhibition of photographs taken by Hull College photographic students and local people.

To mark the occasion, the winners of the Capture the Heart of Hull Campaign - a joint Hull Daily Mail and ONE HULL competition encouraging local people to photograph their proud images of the City – were also announced.

A special ONE HULL Community Strategy time capsule was buried at Paisley Primary School, in Hull. Pupils who helped launch the largest-ever consultation exercise for the City, the results of which decided the key priorities for the Community Strategy, were asked to recreate what they would like to see in Hull in 15 years time. Their words, images and aspirations were buried in the time capsule, which will be reopened in 2020.

10 <![CDATA[Round the World Yacht Race]]> http://onehull.co.uk/eventDetails.asp?intEventID=10 Ten young people from the City were chosen'to form the'ONE HULL Tag Team (see ONE HULL selection images).

Along with the Skipper of the Hull & Humber Clipper, the ONE HULL Tag Team will make sure the message that modern-day slavery still exists today is carried across the globe by the signing of a special Wilberforce petition.

Skipper of the Hull and Humber Danny Watson said he would also personally ensure the Wilberforce ethos is taken onboard by the Clipper and its crew.

Passing through 14 ports in 5 continents, the members of the ONE HULL Tag Team will each complete a separate leg of the grueling race, traveling a combined total of 35,000 miles. The special Wilberforce petition will be handed over at a special ceremony at the end of each major leg and signed by international dignitaries.

Therefore, the ONE HULL Tag Team will take with them a special Charter. From Durban in South Africa to Fremantle, in Australia - international dignitaries from across the globe will sign the pledge – highlighting the fight continues – and Hull is still playing a key role 200 years on.

When the race starts in September, this petition will then be passed on by members of the ONE HULL Tag Team in seven key ports – until it finally returns back to Liverpool in 2008 (and then returns to back to Hull).

15 <![CDATA[SDP - Earning]]> http://onehull.co.uk/eventDetails.asp?intEventID=15 The Earning Strategic Delivery Partnership (SDP) of ONE HULL brings together players across all sectors involved with creating paid better jobs, learning opportunities and developing skills.

Local businesses join agencies such as Hull City Council, Job Centre Plus, Learning and Skills Council, Yorkshire Forward and Business Link Yorkshire.

Having a steady, rewarding and well-paid job can have positive effects on a person's quality of life. Employment can improve people's health and wellbeing and can lift families out of poverty.

16 <![CDATA[SDP - Health and Wellbeing]]> http://onehull.co.uk/eventDetails.asp?intEventID=16 Although life expectancy in Hull is rising - we are still behind the national average and the Partnership is providing support for people to make healthier lifestyle choices, including their ability to live independently.

However, wellbeing is also influenced by the environment we live in and we have to work together to improve homes, schools, local services, public transport and reduce crime and antisocial behaviour, whilst promoting healthy living.

This is the objective of the Health and Wellbeing Strategic Delivery Partnership (SDP) of ONE HULL, which is working towards improving the quality of life for local people and encouraging people to make positive informed decisions and choices about their lifestyles.
