The Wyke Area covers three electoral wards, Avenue, Newland and Bricknell. These lie in the West of the City close to the centre and include the main roads, which lead out to the North of the City and into the City Centre.
The area is predominately private housing and the four main shopping areas are Princes Avenue, Chanterlands Avenue, Newland Avenue and Beverley Road. There are two distinctive industrial and business zones at National Avenue and Bankside. The area is close to the Universities and has a large student population.
